PLAY POINTS

"I have walked dogs and rode horses all over the Rossendale Valley all my life!  That’s how I know the most beautiful parts that are the idea places for my packs to play.  Fortunately because we live in and around these stunning locations I  do not need to keep the dogs in the car for to long.  Play Points are situated within a 30 minute drive from your dogs home.  Here are some of the places we visit"

The Mary Towneley Loop is a 47-mile (76 km) circular route that forms part of the Pennine Bridleway National Trail, along the borders of Lancashire and Yorkshire. The loop was opened in 2002, the first section of the Pennine Bridleway.

Haslingden, surrounded by so much wild country, can provide many walks. This little low-level route can be accomplished in half a day.  There are many areas where the dogs are free to be off lead.

Lee and Cragg Quarry walk with Donnas Dog Walks

Lee & Qrag Quarry

Cragg Quarry is the jewel in the crown of the local trails it feels more like a secret riding spot you have discovered than a purpose built trail. From Lee Quarry head south following the newly constructed route across Brandwood Lower End Moor until you reach Rooley Moor Road (which is part of the Mary Towneley Loop) turn right (west) and follow the Mary Towneley Loop for just over 1km and you will find yourself in Cragg Quarry. Here you will find about 6.5km of swooping flowing singletrack which makes good use of the spoil heaps left up there by Rossendale’s Quarrying heritage.

Crown Poing Walk with Donnas dog walks

Crown Point

This incredibly attractive area was launched June 2003, by the Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley. This site has been specially selected for its high landscape beauty and general natural appeal.

Almost as soon as you arrive at the gate to the planting site, the uninterrupted view over Burnley Town to the Pendle Hills is splendid. All plantings at this site will be on the left hand side of the pathway which zig zags down to the lower gentle slopes to join the "Ramblers Way". From the pathway you can also access the 'Singing Ringing Tree Panopticon', which produces some wonderful chimes on a windy day. This is a popular destination for walkers and ramblers.

Clowbridge Reservoir walk with Donnas dog walks

Clowbridge Reservoir

Enjoy a circular walk around this pretty reservoir near Burnley. There are good footpaths taking you through the countryside and woodland which surround the reservoir. You can park at the southern end of the water and pick up the path which leads up into the lovely countryside above Clowbridge. The path then takes you to the woodland of Greenhill Clough before returning to the car park by following the track on the west side of the water. On the way there are fine views to Pendle Hill, Stony Hill, Nutshaw and Burnt Hill.
You can extend your walk by picking up the Rossendale Way or the Burnley Way which run past the reservoir.
